At Guru Engineering Tech, our mission has always been to provide high-quality, low-cost engineering solutions and resources to competitive science teams. From the perfect balsa cut to the most resilient rubber motors, we’ve been in the trenches (and the gymnasiums) with you.

This year, we are taking our commitment to the next level. We are thrilled to launch the Guru Engineering Tech Scholarship, a $2,000 award for a graduating senior who has been shaped by the challenge of Science Olympiad.

From the Flight Line to the Classroom

Whether you spent your weekends winding rubber motors for Wright Stuff, trimming Gliders for that perfect bank, or adjusting the pitch on a Helicopter for a few extra seconds of hang time, we know the grit it takes to compete. This scholarship is designed to help you carry that same engineering spirit into your college career.

Eligibility & Criteria

To be eligible for the 2026 scholarship, applicants must:

Be a Graduating Senior: Class of 2026.
Be Seeking a Degree: Planning to attend an accredited college, university, or other post-secondary educational institution in the Fall of 2026.
Be a Science Olympiad Alum: Have participated in Science Olympiad at any point (Middle or High School). While we have a soft spot for the "Flight" events, students from all events, from Forensics to Fossils, are encouraged to apply!

How to Apply

We’ve kept the process simple. We want to hear about your "Aha!" moments. Applicants will be asked to briefly answer:

The Experience: Tell us about a memorable moment, perhaps a record-breaking flight, a last-minute repair in the impound area, or a fun team memory.
The Impact: How did Science Olympiad shape your problem-solving skills or your future career path?

The Fine Print

Direct Support: The scholarship is paid directly to the student for qualifying education expenses (tuition, fees, books, and required equipment) as defined by the IRS.
Transparency: To celebrate our winner, we will post their first name, last initial, high school, and intended college, university, or other post-secondary educational institution on our website and social media.
Selection: The recipient will be chosen by the Guru Engineering Tech Scholarship Committee based on the insight and passion shown in their written responses.

Who is eligible to apply?

Any high school senior graduating in 2026 who plans to enroll in a degree program at a college, university, or other post-secondary educational institution in the Fall of 2026. Most importantly, you must have participated in Science Olympiad at any point in your 6–12 journey (Middle or High School).

I only did Science Olympiad for one year in 7th grade. Can I still apply?

Yes! Whether you were a one-year "Crime Busters" enthusiast in middle school or a four-year high school captain, you are eligible. We want to hear how the experience impacted you.

What is the award amount?

For the 2026 cycle, the scholarship is a one-time payment of $2,000.

How will the money be sent?

The payment will be made directly to the student (not the educational institution). Per IRS guidelines, these funds should be used for qualifying education expenses such as tuition, fees, books, and required equipment.

When is the deadline?

Applications must be submitted via the online form by 11:59 PM on April 30, 2026.

When will I find out if I won?

The winner will be contacted directly in early June 2026. Following notification, we will announce the winner’s first name, last initial, high school, and intended college on our website.

Do I need to submit a transcript or letters of recommendation?

Not for this scholarship! We are primarily interested in your Science Olympiad history and your answers to the two short-response questions.

Do I or my team have to have bought something from Guru Engineering Tech?

Not at all! This scholarship is open to all qualified applicants whether they have purchased products from Guru Engineering Tech or not.
